Welcome to the LameL of the Spirit. I'm so excited to share one of my most popular podcasts Do the Dead Attend their Own Funeral? Now, this is based on a true story about a skeptical funeral director who was reluctant to attend a reading that his wife had arranged for both of them. So listen in as I recount his life-changing experience during that session. Experience during that session. Do you ever wonder if the dead tend to the details of their own funeral or if they even care about the level of service that they get after they've died? I have to tell you, I've asked myself that a couple of times because, of course, I'm a medium. I go to funerals all the time and I feel things there. But you know, I always wondered if it was the actual person that had died that's visiting or attending their own funeral, and I did a reading years back. It was such an amazing experience that it led me to believe that it doesn't take months for spirits to come through after they've died. In fact, they're around and they do tend to the details of their own funeral. Let me explain.

So I had a life-changing reading and I was the one that was doing the reading for this couple. And it all started out when I'd been invited out of town to do readings by my friend who has her own practice and she always lends me this nice little funky office face so that I can do my readings from. And she had asked me if she can invite her friends, matt and Nicole, to be my very first clients that morning. And I said, of course you can. I mean, I'd do anything for this lady, she's so amazing. And so when I got to her office and I walked into the reception area, there they were. They were a really nice looking couple, but I got to be honest, matt looked like he did not want to be there. He had one foot in, one foot out type thing, and you could tell he was really, really uncomfortable, right. So I led them to my office and you know, as I led them there and as we sat down, I could really feel the warmth from them both. I could tell they were really good people, and so I paused for a second. Then I introduced myself, told them what I did for a living and how I was going to do my reading. And you know, I asked Matt, you know, what is it that you do for a living? And right away, you know the old eye roll and looked at his wife, and he responded that he was the funeral director and that he and his wife actually owned and operated their own funeral home. And so I really wasn't surprised at all. In fact, I felt so many spirits around them that it totally made sense to me and I was really, really excited about what I was feeling.

But in that moment there was so much going on and I just wanted to start talking. I just wanted to start telling him everything I was feeling and seeing and sensing. And so the very first thing I said to him you know, because the eye roll I had to establish that trust, you know. So I asked him if he could recall a conversation that he had had either that day or the day before about ordering an oversized casket for a woman whose body was being transferred in from out of town. And when he looked at me and then he looked at his wife, and then he looked at me again and he mentioned that he had had that conversation about 20 minutes prior at his office and he was, you know, just really astonished that I'd said that. But he had just ordered a larger casket and her body was expected to arrive later that day. Inside my heart of hearts, I knew right there that that door from the spirit world had opened and I knew that he was in for quite an awakening and I was in for quite a ride because these spirits were all lined up.

The very next one came through and right away, you know, showed himself to me. So I could see him in my mind's eye and he was a smaller male and he had double amputated legs, but not from the knees down, it was like kind of from the shins down. It was a little bit different, it was like midway and I'd never really seen anything like that, especially two amputations. And so I could see that and this spirit started describing and started showing me. What I could see in my mind's eye was a body arriving into the funeral home and, you know, when the blanket is taken down and someone just pats you on the shoulder and says everything's going to be okay. So I described this to Matt and Matt responded that he knew right away that this was George and he says, like why is George here? Like these amputations are rare and he mentioned that you know, his funeral was just a few days before but why would this guy be visiting him again? I explained to him that this spirit was so happy and so thankful that he took good care of him and he appreciated that reassuring pat that he'd gotten on the shoulder when his body first arrived at the funeral home. And so just really, a validation of everything I had said to him, validation of everything I had said to him. He was just in awe and shaking his head in disbelief, but I really believe that he needed to hear that, he needed to know that George appreciated everything that he did for him, even though he was no longer here in body, spirit after spirit after spirit.

I'm telling you there was such a lineup for this couple. There was an elderly lady that was now making herself known to me and she said that she was going to be viewed in the very first salon, the one right past the reception area, and she was so excited that they were preparing her for viewing and she was happy with the little pink lipstick she had on and the way they fussed with her and I had felt that there was a problem with this prepping or this, the way she had been prepared, and so I just felt kind of issues around the hair and the facial area, especially around the lips or the mouth, but that she had pretty pink lipstick on and she showed me a pink and white blanket or shawl that she was wearing and so I asked if he could relate to that and immediately Matt picked up the phone and he started to dial the phone and I didn't know what he was doing. We're in the middle of a reading. Why would you pick up your phone? And then it's on speakerphone and then I hear a woman answering and he says Vicki, are you preparing anybody right now or are you done? And she goes no, I'm in the middle of a prep right now. Why? He says who are you preparing? So she says well, I'm preparing Ms Levine. Why, he says have you had any problems with prepping her? To which she replied well, I had a little bit of problems with her mouth. She says her lips were crooked, so I asked her daughter to bring a photo in so that I could see what she looked like, and she said that she was, you know, just like that. Her little lips are crooked. So I put pink lipstick on her and she looks so pretty. You'd be so happy with the way she looks.

And he says, well, where is she going to be viewed? She says, well, I'm putting her in the very first salon on the left, just past reception, in room C. And so he looked at his wife and he says what is she wearing? And the lady on the phone responded she's wearing a blue blouse. So he turned around and he smiled at me.

And then she interjected and said but right now she's covered with a pink and white blanket that her daughter brought in for her when she brought in the picture, because she said she wanted her to be warm while she was being prepared. And so he told her he was going to call her back. And then he said this to me how do you do that? There is no way on God's earth you could do that. I didn't even know that. You're not reading my mind. And if I didn't know that, how did you know that?

We all kind of stared at each other for a couple of seconds and we realized that this Mrs Levine was actually talking to me while they were preparing her in real time. Wow, I'm telling you, it was just so amazing to hear these validations and to see it happen as we were doing the reading. It was just crazy. And so this is what I learned from this whole experience spirits who want to be heard will be heard and, judging by our personal experience, it doesn't really matter how long they've been dead.

Why did these spirits visit Matt and Nicole? Well, I think it was because it was their last earthly stop here before the remains were laid to rest, and I'm not sure. But one thing I do know is that Matt and Nicole really needed to hear from their dead clients Really did, and it was a much needed sense of appreciation, not only by the living who hired them to perform an honorable service for their dead, but also from the dead themselves, who dropped by to thank them for the personal touch, the love, the dignity in their final resting moments. And that, my friends, is a true story, just to let you know.

Spirits are always around us. They're always around us. We have spirits that surround us every single day, even though we're not aware of it. So do I think that spirits tend to their own funerals or really care about the level of service that they receive after they've died? To be very honest, the spirits don't really care what happens to them afterwards, because they no longer have ego, but they do care about the way we feel about certain things, and so it's to honor them the way that you feel they would have enjoyed to be honored.
